Proidl Riesling Hockäcker 2015

Wine Enthusiast: 93pts

Fresh citrus has a tang of green apple on the nose. The palate colors this with an equally zesty dollop of grapefruit, but something riper, richer, almost of dried fruit, also swings in there. This is intriguing and fresh, zesty and taut, lip-smacking and moreish. I feel that this will give up its secrets with a little more bottle age, but it already is delicious now.

From a rocky plateau with a thick humus layer above the Pellingen, the citrus colored 2015 Riede Hochäcker 1ÖTW Senftenberger Riesling offers an intense and concentrated nose of ripe fruits intermixed with crystalline stone aromas. Full-bodied, round and elegant on the palate, this is a very sensual and lush Riesling with delicate acidity and a stimulating, salty and finessed finish. Slightly creamy and highly finessed. A gorgeous Riesling indeed! Tasted July 2017.

Wine Spectator: 91 pts

A pungent white, this displays petrol, pine and apple aromas, turning to peach and stone notes on the palate. Firm and long, with a chalky, minerally finish. Drink now through 2024. 400 cases made.
