The 2014 Riesling Smaragd Setzberg is well defined and fresh on the nose, intermixing dusty and stony (gneiss) aromas with bright Riesling flavors. Medium to full-bodied, piquant and elegant, this is a mineral-driven Riesling with tension and grip, and some herbal flavors in the finish. The botrytis seems very well selected here and gives length and a fruity intensity. Very well done.
