Beyond Distilling lives up to its name by going way beyond just distilling, crafting, and aging spirits.
Based in North Charleston, South Carolina, the distillery was established in late 2020 as a passion project among three friends-Tyler LaCorata, Kerianne Krause, and Ryan Sadis. Their vision was to be active members in and give back to their local community. In part, they do this by growing their own botanicals on site, and offering distilling and mixology classes to the public.
Kerianne Krause is a former teacher and founder of Building Independence Together, an organization that works with children with autism and developmental delays to improve their communication skills and develop autonomy.
Along with Tyler and Ryan’s experience distilling spirits and Kerianne’s passion for her work, the three friends agreed to create an inclusive workplace where they would employ adults with disabilities. One of the only distilleries in the country operating with this mission, the workforce at Beyond Distilling is made up of one-hundred percent employees with intellectual disabilities.
