Claus Preisinger Heideboden 2015

International Wine Report: 93pts

This is another sensational wine from Claus Preisinger, composed of predominately Zweigelt with the addition of Blaufränkisch and Merlot, sourced from vineyards situated in Heideboden, which contain a diverse range of soils, from black earth to limestone gravel to loam. This red immediately impresses with vivid aromas of wild berries, violets, spices, pepper and wonderful fresh minerality all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this is simply gorgeous, as it displays a luxurious velvety texture with remarkable finesse and balance. There is a wonderful streak of acidity keeping this bright and focused all the way through the finsh. While this is already delicious, I can certinaly see it becoming even more compelling with some short term cellaring. (Best 2017-2027) - January, 2017 (JD)
