Casale del Giglio Viognier 2018

 James Suckling: 91 pts

Apricot and dried-lemon aromas with a medium to full body. Lots of fruit and a flavorful finish. Gives a slightly off-dry impression. Drink now.

Vinous: 90 pts

Bright straw yellow. Lovely aromas of peach, white pepper, and apricot. Fresh and juicy, with lively flavors of ripe pomaceous orchard fruit and a hint of sweet spices. Finishes long and ripe but vibrant. This is an extremely successful Viognier by Italian standards and one of the best I have ever tasted from Casale del Giglio. Very reminiscent of the variety made with, it’s wildly better than this estate’s Chardonnay or Sauvignon.
