Absinthia was founded by Abinthia Vermut, an entrepreneur with a passion for vintage herbaceous spirits made with wormwood, whose last name is purely coincidental and fitting for a crafter of fine absinthe. Vermut, after all, is the German name for wormwood, a key ingredient of absinthe, famously written about in old German, Swiss and French recipes. After her first encounter with absinthe in the ‘90s, she fell in love with the highly misunderstood liqueur. Absinthia began researching and experimenting with recipes, eventually serving her friends some of her first bootleg bottles and ultimately received the nickname Absinthia. In 2013 she legally changed her name to Absinthia, trademarked it, and founded Absinthia’s Bottled Spirits, LLC, in order to bring her organic absinthe to market. After perfecting her artisan absinthes over the years all her hard work starting paying off, with her bottles staring to appear in some of the best Bay area bars, restaurants and shops. In 2018, her Absinthe Blanche Superieure won a gold medal at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition, instantly changing her status from bootlegger to award wining absintheure.

Absinthia’s Bottled Spirits, LLC, is WBENC certified and proudly 100% woman owned. All the absinthes and other products are made in California, with Absinthia meticulously sourcing the highest quality organic ingredients available from trusted sources.
