This wine was previously part of the Bolgheri Superiore appellation but is classified as an IGT Toscana wine in this vintage. The 2015 Sapaio represents a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Franc that ages in French oak for 16 months. The wine is dark and luscious with a thick and rich quality of dark fruit. Purple plum, blackberry and cherry emerge with fragrant intensity. The wine boats a beautiful texture that is soft and powerful at once. Give it a year or two to rest and relax in the bottle. The personality is still nervous and vinous at this young stage in its life.

So much fresh pressed violet and blackberry character as well as iodine, quartz, slate and tile. Full body, grippy yet linear and polished tannins, fine acidity and a long, minerally finish. So refined. Drink in 2020.
