International Wine Report: 94pts

The 2012 Barolo 'Villero' from Oddero is absolutely sensational, as it beautifully showcases the mineral rich soil characteristics of Castiglione Falletto. As this begins to open it releases gorgeous aromas of freshly sliced strawberries and red berries, woven together with floral, spices, minerals, licorice, mint and a touch of dusty leather. On the palate this well defined Barolo is all about elegance and finesse as it impresses with its remarkable balance, focus, and striking silky texture, which leads into the long lingering finish. Although this is already outstanding, I expect it will continue to evolve gracefully for many years to come. (Best 2018-2028
