Profound, full of character and special – this description not only applies to Matthias Hager’s wines but to the vintner himself. Many years of experience in his family business have motivated and encouraged Matthias to cultivate his vineyards according to the biodynamic Demeter method.
Matthias began using organic viticulture and converted his vineyards at the same time to biodynamic cultivation in 2005. For the past several years Matthias has been experimenting with keeping livestock and using biodynamic farming methods, in order to create the necessary plant protection. The winery has been a Demeter certified farm since 2010. Currently, Matthias Hager is the only Demeter certified vintner in Kamptal who exports his wines to New York.
