Born from a family of winemakers in Volnay/Cotes de Beaune, Nicolas Potel's innate talent, passion, and drive have made him a famous and respected Cote d'Or/Burgundy winemaker. Over the last two decades, he has made a name for himself by producing well-crafted, terroir-driven Burgundy wines with great character, enjoyed around the world.
This line of Burgundies produced by Potel focuses on expressive and terroir-driven wines, made from 40+ year-old vines that offer a vibrant and concentrated fruit character. Both the viticulture and winemaking are sustainably managed and inspired by organic and bio-dynamic methods: pruning and plowing, manual harvesting, fermentation using native yeasts. Bottling is done in accordance with the lunar calendar. The Pinot Noir wines are aged on the fine lees with little racking. Maison de la Cabotte wines are produced with respect for the terroir, appellation and vintage.
